|This half term, we are going to explore the Dinosaur Planet!
Stomp, crash, RRRAGH! Watch out everyone – the dinosaurs are on the prowl! Imagining we are palaeontologists, we will dig deep and discover dazzling dinosaur facts.
As Writers we will be writing signs, captions and labels. We will create a palaeontologist’s fact file about a chosen dinosaur.
As Readers we will find out about a dinosaur of our choice using a range of simple non-fiction books to find out key facts.
As Mathematicians we will be comparing, describing and solving practical problems for lengths and heights and mass or weight. We will measure using non standard units and begin to record our findings.
As Scientists we will identify and name a variety of common animals. We will investigate and discover which dinosaurs were herbivores, carnivores and omnivores.
As Programmers and users of Technology we will program a floor robotic dinosaur to visit specific locations around a prehistoric landscape.
As Historians we will be looking at key events in the past that are significant nationally and globally. We will compare life during the age of the dinosaurs with modern life.
As Geographers we will explore weather in the UK and around the world and we will find out where in the world different dinosaur fossils have been found. We will devise a simple map and use and construct basic symbols in a key.
As Design Technologists we will create our own Sockasaurus Rex! We will select from and use a wide range of materials and components including textiles according to their characteristics.
As Artists we will observe and use pencil to sketch and create rubbings of fossils.
As Musicians we will use percussion instruments to create our own sound effects in relation to the dinosaurs.
In Religious Education we will be exploring the theme of ‘Belonging and Special Times’ through the religions of Christianity and Judaism.

Work with a grown-up at home to research more amazing facts about the age of the dinosaurs. You can chose to present your findings using a poster, power-point, fact cards or information leaflet.
Create a model relating to Dinosaurs and their habitat.
Please bring completed projects in to school by 30th September .
